Richard Popp, Arabic Language Specialist, received a master's in Liberal Studies in Arabic and Islamic Studies from The Ohio State University and Ph.D. in Arabic Language, Literature, and Linguistics from Georgetown University.  He is a Peace Corps RPCV from Yemen.  He is certified (CT) as an Arabic to English translator by the American Translators Association (atanet.org), as well as being one of the Association’s Arabic certification graders.  He has extensive experience working professionally as a translator and cultural analyst for corporate companies in Northern Virginia.  Moreover, he taught Arabic to adult learners taking them from the FSI 0 to 3 levels as part of his commercial employment.  He has published academic articles about Arab American literature in Journal of Arabic Literature (Brill) 32 (1): 30–52 and Al-Jadid  (aljadid.com), in addition to delivering papers at conferences of the Middle East Studies Association of North America on the same topic.
