From 1989 to 1999, she taught Arabic at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dina Elhefnawy taught at United Arab Emirates University in Al-Ain, UAE from 1999 to 2003. After returning to the USA, she taught Arabic at University of Maryland from 2004 to 2019. Dina also taught Arabic as an Adjunct professor at The George Washington University from 2011 until 2019 when she got hired as a Special Service Faculty. Her favorite thing about teaching at The George Washington University is introducing her students to her native language and her culture because she would like them to get a better understanding of Arabic culture and the people of Egypt and the Middle East.
