Minor in Classical & Ancient Near Eastern Studies
A minor in classics can be a gateway to a wide variety of career paths and graduate programs, from archaeology to philosophy and even biology. GW’s highly flexible minor in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies allows students to explore many topics in ancient Mediterranean history and culture, with elective options including Art and Archaeology of Pompeii, Ancient Medicine and Modern Medical Terms, Greek and Roman Drama, field research and much more.
In addition to choosing five elective courses in classical studies, students in the minor must complete one language course in Latin or ancient Greek.
Course Requirements
The following requirements must be fulfilled: 18 credits, including one 3-credit course to demonstrate language proficiency and15 credits in courses for the minor.

Students must demonstrate proficiency in one of the ancient languages by successfully completing one 3-credit course in Latin or in ancient Greek numbered 1002 or above.
