Nashwa Taher holds both a B.A. in English Literature and a Diploma in Translation from Tishreen University, Syria, as well as an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University.
Since she joined GWU in 2007, she has participated in the development of curriculum materials, including the creation of syllabi, proficiency based instructional materials, and assessments for all levels. Starting in 2019, she has acted as the Arabic advisor for graduate students of the Institute for Middle Eastern Studies in the Elliott School.
In addition to her experience at GWU, she has taught Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine Arabic both online and in-person at other institutions, including Ohio University and Middlebury Language Summer Schools. She also conducts curriculum and pedagogy workshops for K-12 teachers of Arabic in the DC Metro Area.
Taher holds a UMUC & ACTFL Certification in Instructional Technology Integration and is certified as a Full OPI Tester of the Arabic Language.
